La Muse

2000

Vintage

An average winter and dry spring made for an early budbreak in March. Late spring and summer weather patterns shifted between periods of cool weather with light rains, and scattered streaks of hot weather. The periods of cool weather led to a long bloom while the heat waves that followed helped kick-start even grape development. Overall, the weather was unusual and inconsistent throughout the growing season. The 2000s are ready to be opened and enjoyed now. Harvest took place September 6th through October 6th. – Pierre Seillan, Vigneron

The wine retains a similar lineage with red and black fruit characters and a texture of velvet with undeniable complexity. Full flavors of sweet blackberry, licorice, roasted tobacco and espresso, the 2000 La Muse will drink beautifully for the next 15 years.

This totally mature, soft, round, fruity red offers up hints of underbrush, fruitcake, blackcurrants, sweet kirsch and licorice. By no means the most complete or concentrated La Muse, it is the fastest to hit full maturity. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

Plenty of richness, depth and stuffing, along with excellent balance and focus. The core of currant, blackberry, anise, spice and cedar notes are all gracefully in place and remain persistent on the finish, giving it a very Bordeaux-like personality.
