Tasting Notes
"What one notices first is the conjunction of concentrated black-cherry
Merlot fruit and a texture somewhere between satin and velvet. What one
notices last is the broad finish that lingers. The 1998 Vérité can be enjoyed
now or cellared for even greater drinking pleasure." - Pierre Seillan, Vigneron
Acclaim
93 points, Cellar Selection, Wine Enthusiast, December 2001
"Lush and delicious, this richly fruited wine roars from glass with a serious, yet still sexy plum, chocolate, spice and cedar nose. Plush tannins and an even mouthfeel full cherry, plum and cocoa flavors, and this impressive first release finishes long and dry. Appealing now, but has tannins to lose. Should be even better in two years. Hold until 2008."
92 points, The Wine Advocate, Robert Parker, Jr., December 2000
It is a blockbuster Merlot, and certainly a formidable achievement for 1998. The wine shows a dense black/purple color, an enormous nose of espresso roast, melted chocolate, blackberries, cherries and sweet truffle/earthy notes. Very full-bodied, astonishingly concentrated, extremely pure, and well-balanced, this is a blockbuster effort that can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years."
