This important estate in the Alexander Valley has many high elevation sites that
offer a myriad of soils, aspects and climates. The Merlot blocks vinified by Pierre
face northwest and possess rocky volcanic red soil restricting the vine for greater
richness in the grapes. The Cabernet Sauvignon blocks have similar soils but face
southwest. The average age of the vines is between 10 and 15 years and crop levels are between 1.5 and 2.5 tons per acre. Individual vineyard blocks are located between 900-2400 feet above sea level. The grapes from this Estate give power, fruit, spice and complexity to the Vérité blends. |
